Lilith's defining trait is that she is defiant. She was cast out of Eden by refusing to be subservient to Adam, further defying God by becoming Lucifer's follower and handmaiden. Lilith has made an identity out of building herself up into a strong woman, someone that is ruled by only her own desires and the willing service to Lucifer, the one who saved her those years ago. Whilst Lilith's service to Lucifer may seem in contrast to her defiant nature she doesn't hesitate to question his orders when she needs more clarity or doesn't believe in them, such as when he wished to have Sabrina serving by his side, Lilith argued that Sabrina's nature would prevent her from agreeing to this. Though Lucifer inevitably got Sabrina to his side he decided to pose it to Lilith as a wager, letting them see (almost as equals) who would be right. Additionally, Lilith only serves Lucifer due to an agreement that in time, following his plan, she would serve beside him as Queen of Hell. When it was shown that these promises were lies Lilith readily opposed him, first by trying to deny him Sabrina (stopping her corruption rather than encouraging it as she had before, later trying to kill her) and then by outrightly overthrowing his rule and taking the crown for herself. Whilst Lilith is devoted to Lucifer if what she experiences goes against what she believes is right, or she feels betrayed by it, she won't simply sit by and allow it to happen -- she's been crossed too many times to simply sit down and take it.
A fierce individual, Lilith has incredibly strong beliefs, both in herself, Lucifer's plans and what she is able to do and she is unwilling to compromise in her methods to do them. Her speech is incredibly daring, openly challenging others including Lucifer himself with her actions fulfilling a similar lively spark. Whilst much of what Lilith does is reprehensible she takes a perverse joy in it, not so much in enjoying seeing others suffering but simply seeing other people as a means to an end, pawns in her plans to become the Queen of Hell. Lilith is also particularly brave, having survived such a long life and refusing to give up, not showing fear when things become dangerous, continually refusing to submit or back down, aggressively seeking out her goals. Her actions have been a source of strength for other women, a figure throughout history as someone who did not give up, her story told even in recent days through the Church of Night (if portrayed with some inaccuracies).
In pursuit of her goals, Lilith will stop at nothing. She killed a woman that Sabrina trusted to take over her life, sacrificed people to raise the dead and has used her magic to trap and manipulate, all of which she feels no guilt or remorse for. When questioned about it by Sabrina, Lilith's reaction is minimal, an acknowledgement of what she's done but no apologies for it. Whilst she is aware that her actions would be deemed evil, quoting Sabrina's mortal side for both her and Lucifer's work, she has no intentions of changing what she does, preferring to succeed in her goals and earn what has been promised to her no matter the sacrifice. Lilith has no time or patience for weakness, classing guilt as something that would only hold her back -- a queen has to be fearless and she cannot doubt herself or what she does if she wishes to rule. Lilith also cares very little for those around her, some of this spurred by her past (such as an unease/distaste for men) but most of this because mortals mean little in significance to what she wants. When told that the prophecy regarding Sabrina would end up in the world burning Lilith merely laughed, stating that she didn't care what happened to the world whether it burned or didn't -- her priorities relate to Hell, the domain she wishes to rule, not Earth.
The strength of Lilith's devotion can be seen by how long she has followed and served Lucifer as his handmaiden. With goals in mind, ruling beside him in Hell, Lilith would do whatever it takes to get there. She is passionate in her attempts to earn her prize and refuses to let anyone stop her from this. Her convictions can be seen in how she undertakes her plans and the decisions that she makes in order to complete them. After being betrayed by Lucifer, realising that he had never planned to let her serve as Queen of Hell by his side she decides to overthrow him and take the crown for herself, something that is incredibly difficult to do due to his power. Lilith doesn't let this stop her, enlisting other's help to ensure that the plan goes without a hitch, initially allowing the others to act (to keep up her own appearance) before stepping in and taking on a bigger role, eventually being the one to hold Lucifer so he can be trapped, using a strength in her magic that could only be done by sheer force of will. Lilith refuses to allow others to stand in her way, quickly cutting them down or taking a stand against them when she believes them to be wrong. Though sometimes she needs a prod, it took Sabrina's words for her to step away from Lucifer, Lilith initially believing that things would still work out for her (a sign of her devotion to him), she then became determined to see her dreams through no matter what it took.
When she took over the life of Mary Wardwell in an attempt to get close to Sabrina people remarked that she seemed different from before, though ancient as she is she was skilled enough to be able to mask much of her personality in order to assume the life of Ms Wardwell. Lilith's goals, given by Lucifer, were to sway Sabrina to his cause, manipulations that took place over several months both in her verbal council, causing Sabrina to enact perversions of the Nazarene, to creating events that Sabrina would have to get involved in. Lilith's manipulations forced Sabrina to feel that she had no choice but to sign the Book of the Beast, a success of Lilith's goals that brought them one step closer to the prophecy. Whilst appearing to help Sabrina with her problems, such as exorcising a demon and entering Limbo, these acts ultimately had unforeseen consequences for Sabrina, things that Lilith knew whilst giving her advice (and had planned for), all a part of her task and the prophecy. Lilith's work did not stop only with Sabrina, with her altering her appearance to pose as a tarot card reader, manipulating the cards that she drew in order to lure people to her before then telling (and showing) them of an event which could happen should they not carefully make a decision. Whilst some of these events were not false Lilith had twisted them in order to sow doubt into those that she had done readings for. Lilith is a fantastic liar, mastering this skill by having served the King of Lies (Lucifer) for so long. It aids her manipulations, Lilith having to lie and be believed in order to enact her plans, whilst also having little care for what may happen to those that believe her lies, whether they become hurt by the lies/truth or if they end up falling to a deadly fate due to her actions.
Whilst not her most obvious characteristic Lilith does have a maternal side to her, something that helped her in gaining Sabrina's trust whilst posing as Ms Wardwell. Lilith needed to nurture a relationship with Sabrina, acting as a magical guide/confidante whilst simultaneously corrupting her to the Dark Lord's wishes. However, in order to turn Sabrina Lilith had to be successful in her subterfuge, creating a caring appearance for herself that was strong enough to not be seen through. Though much of this is amplified for her act truthfully, this is not something that is new to Lilith, with her initial appearance in the world being one of caring. After being saved by Lucifer she tended to his wounds, healing and helping him, something that she could not do if she were unable to care for another. Lilith also sees herself as the mother of demons, being the first demon, though there may be more truth to her words than just a simple historical fact.
Abilities/Powers/Weaknesses & Warping:
WITCH. As the first witch, Lilith is incredibly powerful. In addition to being able to cast spells, she can use her magic non-verbally and telekinetically, moving objects with just a thought. She is also able to shapeshift, changing her form to look like someone else (differently than a glamour spell), can teleport either through the physical world or through shadows, can create poppets to control other people, can levitate, manipulate and generate fire, communicate with her familiar and immobilise someone. Being the first witch and having honed her craft for millennia Lilith is also skilled in potion making and has full access and control of her craft. She is the only person who was truly able to challenge Lucifer, able to immobilise him for a period of time to allow him to be imprisoned and defeated. Given that Lilith's magic comes from an old source and is not granted by Lucifer there are slightly different rules for her magic than other witches of her world (e.g. in terms of resurrection/sacrifice). [1] [2] [3] SPELLCASTING. In addition to her other abilities stemming from her magic when casting spells she can scry (spy on others/observe places through the use of mirrors), dream walk (enter another person's dreams), summon other witches or familiars, including the Dark Lord, and use necromantic magic (control and resurrect the dead). Lilith is also able to curse an item or object, place wards to protect a person or place, bind an individual to an area/restrain them, manipulate memories (add/remove), manipulate plants/the weather, astrally project to another location (akin to a ghost), conjure demons and other beings, create illusions including glamours, banish and trap demons (and perform exorcisms, though forbidden by Witch Laws), cloak a person or location and enchant objects with magic. If reading from a spell book, due to her great power, Lilith would be able to cast other spells than what is solely in her memory and knowledge. DEMON. As well as being the first witch Lilith is also the first demon. Many of a demon's powers are similar to those of witches, such as spellcasting due to being beings from Hell, whilst witches powers originate from the Dark Lord (Lucifer). As well as her powers as a witch, due to being a demon Lilith is also able to summon hellfire, possess another body (though Lilith took on Ms Wardwell's appearance after killing her through shapeshifting), consume souls and control animals. In her true demonic form (or the appearance she chooses), her appearance is that of a green skin tone with sharp teeth, skull studded eyes and no nose. [1] [2] LONGEVITY. As a witch Lilith ages incredibly slowly, being able to live for centuries. As a demon in service to Lucifer Lilith is incredibly old, however, she is not immortal. Additionally, Lilith is also resistant to human diseases and illnesses. She can be cursed with a disease but would not naturally contract a cold or mortal illness. LANGUAGES. Being the first woman Lilith has seen language evolve through millennia, speaking not only English (which she defaults to now) but also Latin. It is unknown what other languages Lilith can speak or understand but others are likely very old or now dead languages. PERMISSIONS. Lilith will not use any magic that would control another character without explicit player consent being granted. [link] WARPING. Lilith will find her magic less reliable than usual but also unpredictable in some of the effects that may happen. For example: healing would either make the injury worse or, should she successfully heal an injury, will find that she has taken on the injury instead. Scrying may grant her information that is either accurate or a few hours out of date. With spellcasting, she will find will either happen as normal, the spell is weaker than she'd intended or far more potent than she'd intended (in some cases causing her to reverse the spell). Teleportation may see her arrive at the wrong location, particularly if she travels through shadows.
