Inmate/Warden: Warden
Although Lydia can be pretty stuck up and (previously more so) self centered she isn't a bad person, and is working to try and help stop bad things in canon, making her role on the barge be that of a warden. Lydia would not be the best warden, it's not something she has done before, but she's smart enough and sensible enough that I think she would definitely try, and may even be able to do well through some form of motivation, and helping (once she finds the right areas, either skills, facing issues or whatever her inmate needs). It might take her a while to settle into it to do it right, but how many get it right first try?
Item: Her phone
Abilities/Powers:
SUPERNATURAL:
Lydia is a special individual in that she is immune to the werewolf bite. After Lydia was bitten by Peter Hale, instead of turning or dying (the two options) nothing happened to her, showing that she was immune. Although no one originally knew this it was revealed that Peter Hale had known this, and that he'd bitten her on purpose as a back up plan, which was discovered after Lydia somehow brought him back to life
NATURAL:
Lydia is one of the smartest students at Beacon Hills High School, with a grade "A" average, although you wouldn't think it to talk to her (at first). Lydia is a genius, who reads and learns simply to overcome boredom, and knows how to make Molotov Cocktails from memory. Additionally she knows both Classical and Archaic Latin, as well as being well versed in science and maths. She also particularly likes astrophysics and aims to win a Fields Medal
Personality:
On first sight Lydia appears to be just a high school girl: shallow and self-important. She's popular, fashionable and, in contrast, knows how to survive. Whilst Lydia's survival skills might not be as traditional, for example fighting or hunting, her survival skills pertain to who she is and who she needs to be. If you look deeper into Lydia, or actually manage to get to know her, it's possible to see that the Lydia Martin that everyone thinks they know isn't the true story. Really? Lydia is intelligent, thoughtful and sensitive, if still manipulative. The reason that she keeps herself hidden is for appearance. Lydia is popular, if not the most popular girl at Beacon Heights, and she likes this, which is something that she knows she wouldn't be if people knew exactly how smart she was. Although Lydia's true friends have shown that they don't care that she's smart, as they like her, it is not something that she'd reveal outright - as even her parents are surprised by her good test scores. Lydia's intelligence also spreads not only through her good testing and knowledge but into more personal areas. By hiding her intelligence Lydia shows that she can use it and use it well as the act that she puts on is believed by everyone that knows her. It also enables her ambitions, as Lydia knows what she wants and knows how to get it, which further enables her manipulative attitude.
Lydia is also a curious girl. After learning classical Latin Lydia taught herself archaic Latin simply because she was bored, and when a new girl by the name of Allison Argent arrived at Beacon Heights Lydia made sure to get to know her, although only partly through friendly curiosity - popular nosiness and gossiping may also have had a hand. Where Lydia is curious she also likes to know things. After helping Allison and Scott with their werewolf problem and plan, especially after translating Allison's archaic Latin text, Lydia demanded (begged) to know what was going on when no one would tell her, finding being kept in the dark incredibly frustrating.
Despite Lydia's front, and her hopes, when things do become tough Lydia isn't the best at keeping her head, or so it might seem. After being attacked by Peter Hale (being bitten) Lydia begins to hallucinate, first some rather traumatic images (of a burned Peter Hale) and later a young boy (a young Peter Hale), although of the latter Lydia originally believes that he is real, and that he's stalking her. Although it is not Lydia's state of mind causing these hallucinations, but rather something of Peter Hale that he left behind after attacking her, this isn't the first time that Lydia has been "mentally incapacitated" after a traumatic event. After seeing the Alpha werewolf coming from the video store she becomes heavily medicated to help her deal with the event, and after her attack Lydia enters a fugue state in which she remembers nothing about the three days she spent in the woods. Although Lydia does break down from these events (which is normal given what happens to her) Lydia refuses to be seen this way, showing her determination and strength. Although part of Lydia's reason for bringing back her 'front' is so that she is not seen as weak, and therefore may lose popularity, the fact that she is able to 'pull herself together' in order to mentally compose herself to act strong, even more so can convince others of it, shows how determined Lydia is - not only to be seen as fine, but to be it.
Lydia's determination lies not only in how she wishes to be seen but also in what she wants. On a superficial front Lydia wants to be popular and she accomplishes this with how she acts towards others. By being standoffish, and essentially a bitch to others, Lydia manages to somehow command respect (and fear) from others rather than push them away. Although Lydia's attitude does keep most people at a distance it also makes people want to be her, or be a part of her clique. In more personal wishes Lydia wants Jackson and to be with him. Although Lydia doesn't manage to get him back after he breaks up with her this is due to Jackson's 'issues' rather than Lydia, although her determination and attempts to be his girlfriend again certainly aren't nothing. Lydia is also manipulative, something which she uses to help her get what she wants. Although Lydia has friends she isn't afraid of using them and manipulating them when it helps her ambitions.
Although Lydia has friends, even some that she is close to, she isn't good at asking them for help, or showing her gratitude. Whilst Lydia may let her friends in and get to know her she still refuses to let them see any weakness. Although Lydia doesn't need to hide herself from them there is a part of her that still wishes to protect herself, not so much from them but from anyone else in case people see or find out about any weaknesses - it'll stop her from being seen as weak, which would ruin the image Lydia had worked hard to make and could possibly make her less popular.
Lydia is ridiculously intelligent. She has a 5.0 GPA due to her AP classes, taught herself Archaic Latin because she was bored with Classical Latin and can create Molotov Cocktails from memory. She's also stated that she has an IQ of 178. Her maturity goes hand in hand with her intelligence as well. Although at school (more so in season one) Lydia can be catty and mean, when it comes to things that matters she has a sensible level head about them. From the current season, after Lydia had all the werewolf matters explained to her (after they'd been kept from her) she was seen to be mature about it, could discuss it and didn't seem to hold anything against her friends for keeping it from her. When the murders start to happen again, whilst being freaked after discovering a body, after Lydia becomes involved in the puzzles that Stiles has started to discover she is able to quickly think of information that puts them on the right track as well as use her knowledge to help her.
As for her leadership, although it hasn't been shown so much in the show as Lydia is knew to the supernatural side of everything, one of her teachers remarked that she shows good leadership qualities, which would come from the more human side and at school. Initially Lydia was portrayed as a queen bee type of person, people either feared her or wanted to be her - she was popular, and that no doubt helped. Although Lydia is less popular now she is still the same person and would still retain those leadership qualities, and if she were alone without her friends (such as on the barge) she would have to rely on herself to be able to pull them through, and importantly for a warden use any leadership skills that she has.
Barge Reactions:
Although Lydia is aware of the supernatural, and seems to be dealing with it and what is happening in their lives in stride and with maturity, Lydia is extremely new to knowing about these matters, and other than what she may have read in a book she only has first hand knowledge and experience about werewolves and kanimas. Saying that, even if Lydia has read anything in a book it doesn't mean that she has believed it (at least previously) and she would need to be shown or told about it to believe it, rather than just assuming.
Saying this Lydia has a great deal of maturity, and her intelligence would help her to process and deal with anything that was new to her. Although Lydia may be surprised by anything new that she encounters she'll try to deal with that, and the situation, to let her get on with what needs to be done. One problem, however, is that Lydia's past experience with the supernatural has been a negative one, and it may cloud her judgement (more so to werewolves). Although Lydia is friends with Scott this is because she was friends with him before finding out that he was a werewolf, and he did try to save and protect her rather than attack her like Peter and Derek. This could contribute to a somewhat negative attitude towards supernaturals (more so werewolves) but if they don't attempt to threaten her then she would have no reason to continue that negative thinking.
There are some things that can't help but remind you of home.
[ The latest flood, for example ]
I don't think I'd seen an animal here until now. It started with a dog sat outside my room, and then, oh, twenty others? I don't know exactly how many there are but that's still a lot more than there used to be.
[ At least the barge was a big place ]
I have a dog at home. Prada. Either I just hid it before or it's taken until now to make me realise that I miss him.
[ It's the first. Although Beacon Hills was... special there were things about it she missed, namely her friends, her dog and her parents. And routine, even if she knew she'd be going back to it ]
At least I know he'll still be there when I'm done here. Whenever that is.
[ Because this is more of a challenge than she'd first thought ]
Sample RP:
Pirates. There were pirates. When Lydia had made the deal before coming aboard the barge she hadn't expected that there would be pirates, especially pirates that would take them hostage.
Lydia was currently below deck, not tired up but she wasn't exactly free to roam about, either. And strangely? The pirate ship wasn't a real pirate ship. One of the other 'prisoners' had told her that this was a flood, and in floods sometimes things got a little skewed. In this instance about half of the wardens and inmates were pirates, the other half were now in the cells as prisoners after being caught. She wasn't quite certain what the purpose of these was, or how they could even help, but at least she now knew to expect them with shocking frequency.
She'd been talking to a few of the other prisoners until finally someone had shut them up, but at least Lydia had some information, an idea of who her captors were, where her inmate was (a pirate) and she could start trying to work on figuring the situation out. And hopefully they'd be able to talk again, share the plans and make a collaborative breakout.
Eventually, anyway. Although Lydia wasn't certain what the pirates would do either way - they'd barely said anything, and although the ship was moving she had no idea where they were going. Which was obvious, why would you tell a captive something? It hadn't stopped some of the other prisoners from trying to find information out, even if hadn't gotten them anywhere. At least Lydia knew to keep her mouth shut on that part - she didn't want to risk even worse treatment.
