Lydia is one of the smartest students at Beacon Hills High School, with a grade "A" average, although you wouldn't think it to talk to her (at first). Lydia is a genius, who reads and learns simply to overcome boredom, and knows how to make Molotov Cocktails from memory. Additionally she knows both Classical and Archaic Latin, as well as being well versed in science and maths. She also particularly likes astrophysics and aims to win a Fields Medal
Power; Ice Magic
Personality;
On first sight Lydia appears to be just a high school girl: shallow and self-important. She's popular, fashionable and, in contrast, knows how to survive. Whilst Lydia's survival skills might not be as traditional, for example fighting or hunting, her survival skills pertain to who she is and who she needs to be. If you look deeper into Lydia, or actually manage to get to know her, it's possible to see that the Lydia Martin that everyone thinks they know isn't the true story. Really? Lydia is intelligent, thoughtful and sensitive, if still manipulative. The reason that she keeps herself hidden is for appearance. Lydia is popular, if not the most popular girl at Beacon Heights, and she likes this, which is something that she knows she wouldn't be if people knew exactly how smart she was. Although Lydia's true friends have shown that they don't care that she's smart, as they like her, it is not something that she'd reveal outright - as even her parents are surprised by her good test scores. Lydia's intelligence also spreads not only through her good testing and knowledge but into more personal areas. By hiding her intelligence Lydia shows that she can use it and use it well as the act that she puts on is believed by everyone that knows her. It also enables her ambitions, as Lydia knows what she wants and knows how to get it, which further enables her manipulative attitude.
Lydia is also a curious girl. After learning classical Latin Lydia taught herself archaic Latin simply because she was bored, and when a new girl by the name of Allison Argent arrived at Beacon Heights Lydia made sure to get to know her, although only partly through friendly curiosity - popular nosiness and gossiping may also have had a hand. Where Lydia is curious she also likes to know things. After helping Allison and Scott with their werewolf problem and plan, especially after translating Allison's archaic Latin text, Lydia demanded (begged) to know what was going on when no one would tell her, finding being kept in the dark incredibly frustrating.
Despite Lydia's front, and her hopes, when things do become tough Lydia isn't the best at keeping her head, or so it might seem. After being attacked by Peter Hale (being bitten) Lydia begins to hallucinate, first some rather traumatic images (of a burned Peter Hale) and later a young boy (a young Peter Hale), although of the latter Lydia originally believes that he is real, and that he's stalking her. Although it is not Lydia's state of mind causing these hallucinations, but rather something of Peter Hale that he left behind after attacking her, this isn't the first time that Lydia has been "mentally incapacitated" after a traumatic event. After seeing the Alpha werewolf coming from the video store she becomes heavily medicated to help her deal with the event, and after her attack Lydia enters a fugue state in which she remembers nothing about the three days she spent in the woods. Although Lydia does break down from these events (which is normal given what happens to her) Lydia refuses to be seen this way, showing her determination and strength. Although part of Lydia's reason for bringing back her 'front' is so that she is not seen as weak, and therefore may lose popularity, the fact that she is able to 'pull herself together' in order to mentally compose herself to act strong, even more so can convince others of it, shows how determined Lydia is - not only to be seen as fine, but to be it.
Lydia's determination lies not only in how she wishes to be seen but also in what she wants. On a superficial front Lydia wants to be popular and she accomplishes this with how she acts towards others. By being standoffish, and essentially a bitch to others, Lydia manages to somehow command respect (and fear) from others rather than push them away. Although Lydia's attitude does keep most people at a distance it also makes people want to be her, or be a part of her clique. In more personal wishes Lydia wants Jackson and to be with him. Although Lydia doesn't manage to get him back after he breaks up with her this is due to Jackson's 'issues' rather than Lydia, although her determination and attempts to be his girlfriend again certainly aren't nothing. Lydia is also manipulative, something which she uses to help her get what she wants. Although Lydia has friends she isn't afraid of using them and manipulating them when it helps her ambitions.
Although Lydia has friends, even some that she is close to, she isn't good at asking them for help, or showing her gratitude. Whilst Lydia may let her friends in and get to know her she still refuses to let them see any weakness. Although Lydia doesn't need to hide herself from them there is a part of her that still wishes to protect herself, not so much from them but from anyone else in case people see or find out about any weaknesses - it'll stop her from being seen as weak, which would ruin the image Lydia had worked hard to make and could possibly make her less popular.

Not to complain but it's completely iced over again.
[ Except she definitely is complaining, if not as much through her texting as she would be if this were vocally. Lydia doesn't like the ice - not this much ice. She'd slipped over on it when she'd first arrived and every time it disappeared it came straight back ]
Either someone can't handle their power or they're just trying to freeze us to death, which could probably work. We could be dead in fifteen minutes if we were properly exposed to it, not just slipping on it. Providing our body temperatures don't actually get any lower we should be okay.
[ But she actually had a point to this post, honest ]
I've lost something. Either that or Odin now has a thief. I had a bracelet that I got from home. One of those god gift things. I'd like it back, or found.
[ Maybe she did just lose it ]

The cold was beginning to get a little too much, not enough that Lydia was considering carrying a blanket around with her for permanent warmth, but enough that she was half-considering changing how she dressed until it was over. Thankfully for Odin house there were plenty of people with fire magic, and whether or not it was permanent in getting rid of the ice or making a fire for warmth it was enough for now. And it was the kind of thing that made Lydia wish she could create fire instead of more ice. At first she'd wondered whether someone from Odin had accidentally iced the area around their house until she'd seen it everywhere she'd been. It couldn't have been one of them, not without something going terribly wrong - and that meant it could go wrong for everyone.
But she'd heard enough stories by now about the gods to know that this wasn't the first time something like this had happened. Last time the ice had been an attack, something that destroyed or killed, but this time it just seemed to be present. Either they hadn't yet worked out that this was an attack or the gods were giving them a little break from the war - either their strange version of Christmas, since it wasn't Christmas and it was just ice, or... something else. Either way it had given Lydia something to enjoy - ice skating. Getting the skates had been the hardest part but after that Lydia had gone out there, just a little bit every day. Skating on the pond was riskier than a rink but she'd looked for the right place first, and had made sure that she wasn't the only person in the park - just in case.
It was the most fun that she'd had in a while, and in Asgard. She hadn't been there too long to get into too much of a routine, or to settle but she had spent most of her time since arriving catching up on what had happened, or could. She'd been there before, apparently, but she couldn't remember it. Apparently that seemed to happen every time she arrived again. That and being in Odin house. Even though it seemed strange that she kept leaving and returning, especially given what she'd heard about the difficulty in it, it was at least a little reassuring that there were some consistencies in there. Now she just had to figure out the rest of it, and what would happen when this war was all over. Or how it would end.
